There is no money to repay the lessons (of life and technical) Telettra allowed me to live, feeling after all these more years as part of this great "family", I claim with pride, even my modest contribution.

History (source Wikipedia http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telettra )
Founded in 1946 by engineer Virgilio Floriani (1906 Cison Valmarino - 2000 Cernusco Lombardone ) to Milan, with about 7 million pounds of household savings and a dozen collaborators, Telettra reached with the years a considerable national and international dimension, with about 10,000 total employees, and numerous assets patents and inventions in the field of telecommunications.
In 1957 Telettra founded with Olivetti, the Company General Semiconductor (SGS), which became an independent and important Italian company to develop electronic devices. In 1968 the SGS was sold to 'IRI and after a few years the company merged with French semiconductor Thomson Semiconducteurs , forming the SGS Thomson, now STMicroelectronics .
's head office is moved to the Telettra 1960 to Vimercate, but there are numerous manufacturing facilities and development in Italy ( Gorgonzola, Trieste, Rieti, Chieti , Aicurzio , Concorezzo , St. John Persiceto Rome, Bari ) and international (including in Spain , Norway, Mexico , Brazil, Argentina ).
After the sale of the company from the Floriani FIAT in 1976, continues the company's growth thanks to continued investment in research and development, and collaboration with universities and with major national and international.
In the '90s looms the possibility of the Italian center of the sector through the transfer and Telettra Italtel (led by Marisa Bellisario ) into a new company called Telit. Political problems, however, prevent the birth of this company and in 1990 FIAT finally decide the sale of the multinational Telettra French Alcatel , which absorbs all the activities done and remove the historic brand. In 2006 Alcatel merges with Lucent , with brand new Alcatel-Lucent , thus incorporating the activities ex-Telettra, largely transformed by 16 years of development and integration of Alcatel.
To date, the historical site of a Telettra Vimercate (Milano ) is the main Italian and one of the most important global Alcatel-Lucent.

The last big idea Telettra before the sale to Alcatel
- In 1990 consortium of RAI, Telettra, and RTVE of Madrid, within the European project Eureka 256 (EU-256), develop a system for compressing digital HDTV DCT based on the algorithm (Discrete Cosine Transform), which will come five years later, the compression standard MPEG-2 . The system will be demonstrated during the World Cup Italy 1990 spreading to 8 rooms of the Italian viewing high resolution images taken in the fields of football with HDTV systems 1125/60i/16: 9 and 1250/50i/16: 9 and transmitted via satellite Olympus (ill-fated European satellite to test technologies transmission, which was launched in '89 and that stops working after several technical incidents, in 93). The transfer to Alcatel Telettra also produces results in the failure to develop products in these studies were technology leaders worldwide [1] .
